[EN] During river floods, changes in the pollutants concentra- tions take place that influence the surface water quality. From February 2010 to October 2012, water samples from 12 floods that occurred in the southern part of the Flumen River basin were collected to characterize the relationships between dissolved compounds and suspended solids and water discharge By comparing these analyses with the collection of additional samples during irrigation and non-irrigation season, the compendium of hydrometeorological data and the study of hysteresis loops, an overview of the mechanisms that affect the trends and transport of nitrates (NO3–), suspended solids (TSS) and dissolved salts was obtained. Results showed changes in water quality based on land use and seasonal and eventual variations in relation to flood events.

Todo ello, junto a los escasos datos paleobotánicos disponibles, indica una morfodinámica atenuada bajo una situación de fitoestabilidad, pudiendo correlacionarse con los datos aportados por otros estudios en las islas Canarias y Africa Noroccidental.[Abstract] Starting from the study and radiocarbon dating of a cross-section in the mouth of La Ballena ravine, we have estimated the fonctioning of the area as a litoral pool, with a sedimentation mainly of silts anf clays after a brief torrential phase around the 6200+ / -60 B.P. Along with a few palaeobotanical dates indicated a poor morphodynamic activity under covered vegetation, allowing to make the correlations with other dates from the Canary Islands and Northwest Africa

    Norm reasoning services

Norms are used in open Multi-Agent Systems as a formal specification of deontic statements aimed at regulating the actions of agents and the interactions among them. In this paper, we propose a set of services facilitating the development of both non-normative and normative agents for norm-governed MAS. Specifically, we propose to provide agents with norm reasoning services. These services will help agent designers/developers to programme agents that consider norm reasoning without having to implement the needed mechanisms to reason about norms by themselves. This article shows how these services perform as well as the results of the experiments that we conducted to evaluate their performance

The Phenomenon of international new ventures, global start-ups, and born-globals : what do we know after a decade (1993-2002) of exhaustive scientific inquiry?

    Get PDF
In this paper, 27 studies from the last decade which deal more or less explicitly with the International New Venture, global start-up or born-global phenomenon are first identified, and then fully examined and critically assessed as a basis for obtaining an adequate view of the state-of-the-art of this increasingly important research avenue in the field of International Entrepreneurship (IE). The methodology used for this synthetic review allow us to analyze a number of recent, purposefully-chosen studies that are systematically compared along the following criteria: 1) main objective and type of research; 2) theoretical framework/s of reference, 3) methodological issues, and 4) main findings and/or conclusions. As a result of this literature review, a critical assessment follows in which the most relevant benefits and contributions as well as potential drawbacks, limitations or major discrepancies in the research activities conducted so far are discussed. Finally, some suggestions and implications are provided in the form of future research directions

Multi-Agent Systems for Dynamic Forensic Investigation

    Get PDF
In recent years Multi-Agent Systems have proven to be a useful paradigm for areas where inconsistency and uncertainty are the norm. Network security environments suffer from these problems and could benefit from a Multi-Agent model for dynamic forensic investigations. Building upon previous solutions that lack the necessary levels of scalability and autonomy, we present a decentralised model for collecting and analysing network security data to attain higher levels of accuracy and efficiency. The main contributions of the paper are: (i) a Multi-Agent model for the dynamic organisation of agents participating in forensic investigations; (ii) an agent architecture endowed with mechanisms for collecting and analysing network data; (iii) a protocol for allowing agents to coordinate and make collective decisions on the maliciousness of suspicious activity; and (iv) a simulator tool to test the proposed decentralised model, agents and communication protocol under a wide range of circumstances and scenarios

The District Energy-Efficient Retrofitting of Torrelago (Laguna de Duero – Spain)

The urban growth is estimated to reach up the 66 % by 2050 and consequently the need of resources within the cities will increase significantly. This, combined with the 40 % of energy consumption and 36 % of CO2 emissions of the building sector, makes necessary to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable cities. The CITyFiED project contributes to this transition, aiming to develop an innovative and holistic methodological approach for energy-efficient district renovation and deliver three large scale demonstration cases in the cities of Lund (Sweden), Laguna de Duero (Spain) and Soma (Turkey). CITyFiED methodology consists of several phases that ease the decision-making tasks towards the district renovation, considering the energy efficiency as the main pillar and local authorities as clients. For the case of Torrelago district (Spain) the intervention consists of a set of energy conservative measures including the facÄ…de retrofitting of 143.025 m2 of living space in 31 twelve-storey buildings; the renovation of the district heating network with a new biomass thermal plant; the integration of renewable energy sources, including a micro-cogeneration system, and the installation of individual smart meters. After the renovation action, one-year monitoring campaign is ongoing. The CITyFiED monitoring platform will collect information from the energy systems and deliver environmental, technical, economic and social key performance indicators by March 2019. At the end of the project the achievement of the predefined goals will be verified: Up to 36 % of energy saving and 3,429 tons-CO2/yr emissions saving covering the 59,4 % of the energy consumption with renewable sources. The research and results presented in this paper evolve from activities related to the CITyFiED project, which has received funding from the European Commission under the Grant Agreement no. 609129. This article is the result of cooperative research work of many experts from various countries and we would like to gratefully acknowledge the rest of the CITyFiED partners
